Say what???

In my opinion, Olivia can say some pretty funny things and I have to get better about writing about them so we can remember them....

*after Tomas said thank you to her, she replied, "my pleasure daddy."

*she was asked to bring snacks to class next week and when I asked what she wanted to bring to share with her friends, she answered, "pretzels, cheese and broccoli." I laughed and asked if she liked broccoli and Olivia answered, "Oh yes, I love broccoli!"

*when people ask about a baby coming to her family, she tells everyone that the baby is in her tummy.

Fossil Rim

Yesterday Tomas took the day off and we took Troy, Clay, Marisa, Logan and Olivia to Fossil Rim. It's a "drive your own vehicle through the 9 1⁄2 mile tour" kind of zoo. We told the younger kids that were were going on a safari. It's a family favorite and this time we got to pet and feed the giraffes. The kids were very excited especially Logan and Olivia because they have never done that before (Olivia of course doesn't remember the time at the SF Zoo when they let us feed the giraffes right before closing). We rented a SUV so everyone would have a window and during the park ride part, we laid the seats down and let the bigger kids sit that way and Olivia sat on my window arm rest while I drove and Logan sat on Tomas's lap in the passenger side and helped take pictures (we were only going about 10-15 mph). One of the funniest moments was Troy and Clay letting the Ostrich pick the food out of their hand (it hurts)and dropping food all over the car and out the window. We all drove back to the Angeli and had dinner and swimming. A great end to a great day!

*having computer issues, will post pics asap

Walk with Christ

One of my callings at church is on the Enrichment committee and for our quarterly dinner we did a Walk with Christ program. It's set up as a walking tour and we just used rooms in the church.

Scriptures: numerous

Room 3 The Last Supper
Decor: basin, towel, sacrament tray
Scriptures: Luke 22:1, 14, 17-23 Matt 26:26-28

Room 4 Garden of Gethsemane
Decor: spotlighted pictures, garden setting with large paper mache stone
Scripture: Matt 26:14, 15, 36-39, 47,49

Room 5 Judgment of Christ

Scripture: Matt 27:2,11-22,23,24

Room 6 The Crucifixion

Room 7 Joseph of Arimathaea's Tomb
Decor: Linens and spice
Scripture: Matt 27:57-60, Mark 16:1

Room 8 Christ is Risen
Decor; Empty room , table with sheet to look like bed, linen folded at head or bed
Scripture: Matt 28:6, Mark 16:1-6

I was in charge of the Crucifixion room and originally the song I picked was I Stand All Amazed but when I got to the church my cd didn't work any longer. I happened to have a cd with Primary songs with me and I quickly scanned to see if any would work and I ended up using He Sent His Son. I knew that it was the more appropriate song when it made me tear up at the words. I decorated my table with a purple rode to signify the scarlet robe they put on the savior, held up with bamboo rods that were symbols of the cane they smote him with. I also had a picture of the savior on the cross (I didn't want a real cross)and I also had a wreath that was dried grape twigs that looked like thorns. I didn't realize how emotional I would be until I had to start reading my scriptures and I teared up during the whole thing and I couldn't even read the words. I made a comment afterward to sister in charge who also had the room after me that I felt like a dork for crying and she said you had to have done something right everyone arrived in her room all teary eyed. I guess I'll take that as I compliment. I think the program turned out really nice and I hope that everyone left knowing a little more about the Savior.

Lyrics:

How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?
He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness.

How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?
He sent his Son to walk with men on earth that we may know.

How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?
He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath.

What does the Father ask of us?
What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like his Son,
Help others on their way.

What does he ask?
Live like his Son.

The best hair product

Many of you out there know that I double process my hair (do a base color and then high/low light it)which I love doing but it contributes to my forever problem of damaged hair. I think this is probably the reason why I usually end up cutting it because it just feels disgusting as it grows out, dry, brittle and not to mention how painful and annoying it is to brush it out, especially wet. I have found the answer to my prayers, it's called Wen by Chaz Dean. I've seen the infomercial a few times and I have to say my interest was peaked. Well I bought it and I just used it for the first time. The scent is almond mint, really yummy. It doesn't have any sud forming agents so you have to use a lot of the product. My first impression was the mint, I love hair products with mint because it makes my scalp all tingly and fresh. You then have to comb the product into the hair, but wait I can't comb my hair wet, with this product yes I can. That was the second thing I noticed, wow this must work. I rinsed and blow dried my hair and it's so full and soft and shiny that I had to write about it. I love this product!

Camping

Olivia got to experience her first camping trip this weekend. A few families from our ward like to camp and they invited us along. We went to Ray Roberts lake, about 45 minutes north of our home. In total there were six families, 13 children and 12 adults. I think Olivia's favorite part was roasting marshmallows, playing in the dirt and getting her own princess flashlight. The batteries are already dead! We only camped over night and of course Tomas said that I packed too much stuff but I like to be prepared! The following picture is Olivia the morning after...crazy hair!

Puppy Love

I rented for Olivia, Lady and the Tramp for the first time yesterday and I thought she would love it. She kept telling me that she didn't want to watch it but when I put it on she was mesmerized by it. She loved it! She showed her true character and her sweet heart when during the dog pound scene she asked why the dogs were so sad. We had a conversation about how they were sad because they didn't have homes with mommy and daddy's to love them and take care of them, like our dogs. She melted my heart when she turned to me and when the sweetest voice said, oh mommy we need to save them. I'm sure this is a forewarning that she's going to be my child that brings home strays just like her mom.
