3 years old and growing....

Uncle Mark yesterday commented on how mature Olivia is looking / acting and I have to say I kind of agree. As we have started to prepare for our new baby, Tomas and I have done a lot of reflecting on how Olivia has changed over the past years. And thanks to having a dad that likes to take photos, Olivia has lots of pictures to show her growth. Here's a few photos of then and now....

bumble bee

I'm not in love with the color blue so when I found out that I was having a boy, I asked for yellow, green, brown or pretty much any color other then blue. The nursery theme is bumble bees and for my shower everyone was sweet to enthusiastically embrace the theme(bumble bee cake, yellow and black decorations), especially Lisa. Lisa and Marisa made me 3 diaper cakes, 1 big, and 2 small with the yellow and black theme. They turned out so cute and everyone at the shower and since then, has commented on what a cute job she did. Thanks Lisa and Marisa!

Baby Update

It seems that with every pregnancy of mine I get to educate my family. With Olivia it was to educate everyone on what a bicornuate uterus was and this baby decided he couldn't be shown up by his sister and brought his game. We now are being very educated on breech positions and cleft lip/palates. A week or so ago, my Dr said that they haven't really seen the baby's whole face and would like to send me to a specialist to have a better look and rule out a cleft lip/palate. I didn't really think much about it and at the first visit they couldn't see anything so they had me come back. On Friday (the 11th) I came back and on the sono they saw a cleft lip. At this time they believe it's soft tissue only (a minor defect) and everyone tells me that it's an easy repair and there is so much advancement in the treatment and repair of this problem. I know this all to be true but I have to say I was just heart broken to think that my sweet baby will have a defect and have to have surgery. So, once again I am very grateful to have modern medicine and live where some of the top doctors are near by that specialize in repairing this condition. My wonderful husband has been very, very supportive and melted my heart when he came home early Friday (with out being asked) to come comfort me and I was so proud that he had already done his research and knew the medical lingo for this situation already. A great website that I found if anyone would like more information is the Cleft palate foundation

"Panish" aka Spanish

Olivia told me tonight that she speaks "panish" and I said oh yeah, what do you say? She answered, Hola! When I asked what does that mean, she answered, hello! She also sings: Bati bati chocolate... stir stir the chocolate

4th of July

We had a busy 4th this year. I'm on the activity committee at church and the tradition is a pancake breakfast and I was in charge of crafts for the kids. We made crowns, star wands and visors. Dad fed and kept control of the rugrats while I was busy :) Afterward, we took the kids to Southlake to watch Walle, don't ask how it was because the exhausted pregnant lady (me) slept during the movie. We then took the kids to Chuck E. Cheeses for a late lunch/early dinner and for some playing that could be done out of the hot sun. Later that night we met up with some friends to watch fireworks at UNT which wasn't as cool as lighting your own fireworks but it was free! We laid the seats down in the back and tailgated to watch the fireworks. Tomas tried to capture some of the fireworks but it wasn't easy with kids jumping around and shaking his arm.

Sassy New Hair

Olivia has been fighting me for months on doing her hair. It gets tangles due to the last 3 to 4 inches is still her baby hair. I wasn't going to do it but I finally saw no other choice but to cut it. I didn't want to give her a "boy cut" or mess it up and have it uneven so I took her to Cool Cuts, a salon for kids and she loved it! She was a little apprehensive going in but very soon she was won over by getting to pick her own movie (Barbie Princess) and picking a car to sit in for her hair to be done. I just had them trim, shape and give her bangs and she looks so cute and grown up. They gave me a lock of her hair and a Polaroid picture for her to remember her first "hair cut". By the time we left, she had glitter in her hair, a lollipop in her mouth and a smile as big as Texas on her face! I do believe we will be going back!
