finger painting...

Olivia has been begging to use her finger paints and I finally gave in. She used them all up in one session of painting and now they are gone but not forgotten, she wants more!

End of Swimming

Olivia's last summer session was yesterday with "Mr. Chris". She really liked her swimming class and did really well. She was able to swim under water with 15-20 sec breath control. She just needs to keep working on her big swimming arms! The last day prize was a ribbon and a t-shirt, which she loves!

Real Men Wear Pink

I was experimenting to find the size and shape of a pacifier that Malaki would like and I was using Olivia's old pacifiers and his favorite was a pink one with Olivia's name. I have since bought the poor kid boy appropriate colored ones.

What happens when you miss your afternoon nap...

It was about 8:30 last night and I was feeding Malaki and we heard some snoring and this is what we found when we investigated......

Preschool

Olivia started preschool today (no picture because she refused to pose this morning for me... I hate that she has an opinion about it.) She goes Tues, Wednesday and Thursday for 3 hours, a great break for me! She gets to bring a lunch and we got her a lunch bag with a princess kitty on it and she loves it, in fact I think that's her favorite part of going. She's been asking to go to school for a few weeks and now it's her turn. I hope she feels like going tomorrow!

Malaki Tomas Mendoza

Malaki joined our family on Tuesday, August 5th at 7:23am. He weighed in at 6 pounds 7 ounces and 18.5 inches long. The c-section wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and the recovery was even easier then I thought. Malaki was born with a complete right side (unilateral) lip and palate cleft. It looks bad but it doesn't stop him from eating. Everyone in the hospital was very impressed that he was already putting away an ounce per feeding! When Olivia met him, she was so excited to see her baby brother and she looks at me and says, wow mom, he makes baby noises. Very cute! She is a little mommy already and helping with the bottle, changing diapers and lots of holding little Malaki or Ki for short.

Is there really a baby in there?

Well, I'm off to the hospital for my scheduled c-section. I'll believe there is a baby in there when I see him...LOL

wish me luck!

Round Table Pizza

It wasn't until I was pregnant that I was rudely made aware of all the great food I left back in California; Little Lucca sandwiches (the best garlic pesto sauce), Hostess Berry and Lemon pies, good Mexican-El Grand Amigo and Taco Trucks (everything out here is Tex Mex) and the best pizza sauce ever, Round Table. I love their red sauce and I just can't find a good pizza place out here (Pizza Hut is ok but not the best). So I did what I do best and got online and I googled for a recipe. And guess what? I found one and I made it today and it's so close to Round Table, I did a little happy dance right in the kitchen.

John's 1st RT Pizza Sauce Knockoff:
4 6oz cans of Tomato paste
12 oz of water
1 Tbsp Hungarian paprika
1 tsp Cumin
1/2 Tbsp Fresh Oregano
1 Tbsp Fresh Basil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp sugar

Mix it all up and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours
