Evil Stepmother

sometimes I feel like the wicked stepmother and I try so hard not to be.
sometimes I feel like I'm a wicked mother, heck with the step part of it!

Gentlemen start your engines......

It's here, the "big" race weekend that we've been hearing about since we moved here almost 6 months ago. We are literally 5 minutes from the Speedway and they have 3 big races during the year and the biggest being this weekend for Nascar. I'm not a Nascar fan but there have been hundreds of campers camping out for over a week now! The biggest white-trash car I have ever seen I saw this week, it was a limo made out of a stock car...LOL too much! Some people just have way too much time on their hands. I guess we'll know by the end of the weekend how the traffic is going to be like.

Jaws

I knew this day might come and it has, Olivia has officially become Jaws. She bit a little boy in nursery. I was so embarrassed and she just laughs when you get after her about something. How do we discipline a child that laughs at you? or if you spank her, she tells you that you have to say sorry because it's what we make her say when she hits? Being sent to her room does do something, at least she then stops laughing. She's been a hitter since the say she was born and it continues to be a battle to help her see that it's a problem. All the drama of being a parent and I'm dumb enough to think I want more kids???????

Ahhh good night

we finally got a bigger bed! Found a guy on craigslist moving and his furniture was only a little older then 1 year. The downside, we didn't realize that he was a smoker until we got the bed home. So after many bottles of air freshener and wood cleaner, it's starting to smell like us! The linens are ours of course!

Pumpkin Patch

It wouldn't be Halloween without visiting a Pumpkin Patch. We miss going to Half Moon Bay but we have found a few that would give old HMB a run for their money! Lisa and kids took Olivia and myself to their favorite and closest pumplin patch. There were lots and lots of pumpkins of every shape, size and color. The older kids liked the corn field maze and I think Olivia's favorite was riding in the wagon and getting her face painted like a princess. She was going to pick the unicorn until the little girl in front of her had the princess face done and then Olivia picked it too. At times it's frusterating that Olivia is starting to have her own opinion of likes and dislikes (hence the crazy outfit) but other times it makes me so proud when she makes her own choice (picking her face paint). We toped the day off with going to get cheaper pumpkins at Walmart and putting up more decerations at Lisa's. It was a great day that wore us out but it was nice to come home and rest.

Potty Training

Olivia has decided that's she going to use the potty. She now refuses to wear a diaper, so we are now buying stock in "Princess Pull ups", trying to keep "all of the flowers"! She's actually doing pretty well, loves the prizes, I think I'm in potty-prize debt and she actually used a public potty yesterday! Yeah, no issues with strange potties. Funny true story: Last week Olivia and I were in a store and she was playing in the clothes rack as I checked out. All of a sudden I couldn't find her and she wasn't responding to me calling her. So as any mother would, I started to panic, involved store clerks and started calling for her again. Went back to the clothes rack and yup, there she was hiding with that all too familiar look. I knew it and then the smell hit me. I thought that I could get out of the store fast enough but oh no, my sweet child had to announce that she had just "pooped" very loudly and for all to hear, especially the clerks and customers that knew that I was looking for her. My only saving grace, I was already checking out of the store and didn't have to let either of us linger any longer :)

Why a blog????

I've been fighting this for years, I've had a myspace account but I just couldn't see why I would want to write about my day and post it for all to see and read. And then we moved away and Olivia is growing up so fast and our California family members are missing out on her spunky, funny ways and oh yeah, there is the whole "keep a journal" thing that I keep telling myself that I need to do but fail miserably at. So here I am writing and maybe I can redeem myself and kill two birds with one stone.
